Key High's DIFT Series foreline traps are laboratory, tabletop condensation traps that use Isopropanol Alcohol and Dry Ice. When combined in the cold bucket, these two form a "slurry." This "slurry" generates a temperature of approximately -80°C, which is ideal for condensing water vapor and most acidic gases. Holding time is typically 12 to 20 hours, depending on the vapor load and gas temperature.
The advantages of the DIFT series traps are the ease of installation, protection of the backing pump from aggressive gases, and easy cleanup. The DIFT trap itself acts as a pump, lowering the overall base pressure of the system. The polycarbonate bonnet cover allows monitoring of the IPA / Dry ice level. The cold bucket holds up to three quarts of the IPA / Dry Ice "slurry." For maximum performance, the cold bucket should be between ½ and ¾ full.

304 Stainless Steel / Polycarbonate / Viton®
Clear bonnet allows the refrigerant level to be safely monitored
Three Quart Cold Bucket
Safety
As with any capture trap, safety issues must be addressed.
Avoid contact with the refrigerant; it will cause frostbite
Dry Ice admits carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is colorless, heavier than air, and can cause suffocation. Use only in a well-ventilated area
Alcohol is flammable. Keep away from sparks and flame
As the dry ice dissolves, it expands significantly. Never clamp the polycarbonate bonnet or the bucket lid
