Introduction to Stainless Steel Valves

Key High manufactures a wide range of quality stainless steel valves that are at the forefront of the high vacuum industry. Our valves are well-designed, reliable, durable, and offer value. Key High has always focused on the details, from raw material selection to machining methods, cleaning, welding, electropolishing, assembly, and testing; all are part of the quality cycle we excel at.

Key High has earned the reputation of manufacturing the highest quality valves. Our dedication to the quality of our valves has led to industry-wide recognition of them. Key High Vacuum Products, Inc. strives to set the standard of excellence in the highest-quality vacuum valves, which are second to none.

Features
  • Valve bodies are manufactured using the "Pulled Port" method
  • 304L Stainless steel valve bodies
  • All valve bodies are electropolished, which increases corrosion resistance and reduces surface area
  • All weld joints are internal or 100% penetration
  • Compact physical “footprint” of the valve assembly
  • High conductance design
  • 3/8” through 3” valves have a welded bellows stem seal
  • Viton® seals standard; upon request, other appropriate materials are available.
Manufacturing

We manufacture using only the finest raw materials. All materials arrive at our facility with certifications from the mills listing the chemical composition of the material. All machining is done using environmentally friendly, water-soluble cutting oils. Once the machining cells have made the parts, the parts are cleaned/washed in deionized water before welding.

Welding

Weld criteria today are more critical than ever. Welding is the most critical process of valve manufacturing. Weld quality will significantly impact the quality of the valve, and the vacuum system itself. Uniformly thin and smooth weld bead are required to maximize conductance.

Key High optimizes the GTAW weld process by using advanced welding equipment to eliminate manual welding, which significantly increases quality. All welds are performed autogenously without any filler rod. This equipment uses the “Pulsed Arc” GTAW method, which produces welds of superior quality. Our methods offer more consistency than conventional GTAW welds and are repeatable from the first weld of the day to the last weld.
