Key High's Met-Seal components are manufactured to industry standards, ensuring interchangeability between flanges sourced from other sources. Met-Seal flanges offer the lowest possible leak rate. Key High’s Met-Seal flanges are offered in 304L and 316L stainless steel, with diameters ranging from 1-1/3" OD to 10" OD. Flanges are sized for standard US tubes and are available in four versions: rotatable, non-rotatable, tapped, and with through holes.
Rotatable Met-Seal flanges consist of a receiver and an insert. The receiver is rotated during assembly to align with the bolt holes of the mating flange, solving alignment issues.
Non-Rotatable Met-Seal flanges are manufactured from one piece of material and serve as the fixed flange.
Met-Seal flanges are identical, sexless flanges with a recessed knife edge cut into the flange face. Sealing is achieved by placing an OFHC gasket between the two flanges and tightening the bolts using a crossing pattern. The force applied causes the knife edges to cut into the gasket, causing the gasket to cold flow laterally, creating the ultra-high vacuum seal. A properly cleaned, baked, and pumped UHV chamber will reach pressures as low as 2 x 10-13 Torr.
Key High offers a complete line of Met-Seal building block components, allowing a rapid, convenient system buildup using off-the-shelf components. All products with a weld joint are leak-tested with a helium mass spectrometer and are ready for immediate use.
